The people of Peoria and surrounding areas have something new to be excited about. A Dutch Bros is rumored to be coming to town, and many students and coffee fans are already talking about it. The new location is expected to be built at the intersection of University Street and War Memorial Drive. Construction is expected to start in March or April of 2026, with hopes of opening sometime in the fall of 2026.
For many locals, this is a big deal. Dutch Bros is a popular drive-thru coffee chain that originated in 1992 in Grants Pass, Oregon. Since then, the company has grown quickly and now has more than 1,000 locations across 24 states. However, it’s usually found in larger cities, not smaller areas like Peoria. Right now, the closest Dutch Bros is in Urbana, which is a pretty long drive for anyone in central Illinois. Having one closer would make it much easier for people to try the drinks that have become so popular on social media.
The chain is especially known for its creative drinks. Dee-Mack student, Parker Eggenberger, raved about a popular Dutch Bros drink known as the Golden Eagle, made with espresso, caramel, and vanilla breve with caramel drizzle. Dutch Bros also offers fun seasonal drinks, like the “Dutch Luv” Valentine’s specials, which included drinks such as the Iced Pink Velvet Mocha, Blended Luvstruck, and Pink Velvet Shake.
Another reason Dutch Bros gets attention is its community involvement. Through the Dutch Bros Foundation, the company donates money on certain days to different causes. For example, on May 16th of each year there is a celebration called “Drink One for Dane.” Co-founder, Dane Boersma passed away from ALS and to celebrate him and bring awareness to end ALS $1 million from the Dutch Bro foundation is going toward the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Efforts like this highlight why fundraising for ALS research truly matters, especially as the disease continues to affect families and communities. Recent losses, including actor Eric Dane, remind us how quickly ALS can progress and how critical it is to research this disease. Ultimately, Dutch Bros’ dedication to giving back shows that the company stands for more than just coffee. Their focus on supporting meaningful causes is a key reason the brand continues to connect with communities.
