This year, people from the community brought to DCMHS’s attention that there is a large amount of money owed to the school, from families, in order to pay off negative lunch accounts in the district. With so many students relying on school meals each day, these balances add up very quickly. Parents aren’t paying lunch fees throughout the year and end with $100+ needed to be paid later on. At the end of the day, every student deserves access to lunch. Luckily, FCCLA found a fun and easy way to help families in need.
The carnival will be Saturday, April 18th from 4:00-7:30 pm at DeeMack Highschool. The games are for Pre-K through 8th graders, so there will be something for everyone that plans on going. There will also be food being sold throughout the night. All of the proceeds from the carnival games and food will go towards paying off these lunch accounts. Any high school student is invited to help out as well. All you have to do is get in contact with Krista Sands, and she will walk you through it.
This is the first year in many years bringing back a carnival. Mrs. Sands says that the goal is to blend retro ideas that older members of the community will remember, along with some more modern ideas that the kids will be interested in. That being said, this is the first year in many that this carnival is being held, the FCCLA members would love your support so that the event can grow and be held in future years!
