The Dee-Mack boys basketball team is looking to finish out the regular season going 22-6. This is the best regular season record the program has finished with in almost 7 years. They are currently sitting at 21-6, with only one regular season game left. Looking into the post season the boys are currently ranked 8th in the state by MaxPreps and are excited to prove themselves.
Being dropped down as a program to 1A the boys have an opportunity to make a much further post season run than they have in previous years. Senior Jerry Hahn was asked what the team needed to improve on to make the strongest run in the post season and capitalize on this opportunity. Although Jerry has faith in his team, he stated there were some things they could improve on by saying, “Rebounding both sides of the ball and not giving other teams second chances. We need to get more second chances.” Junior Coen Gilbert was also asked what the team’s biggest challenge would be this post season to which he responded by saying “staying level headed and focused on the game we are about to play and not focused on the game after or the game after that we just need to focus on getting there first”. Although this team has things they want to improve on before the post season, they also have post season goals. Senior Tkye Albritton states his goal for the team is, “enjoying playing together for one last time but also playing our best basketball together as a team and having a successful post season run.”
The boys post season will kick off Monday, February 23 at home. They are the number 1 seed in their subsectional and will play Hartsberg Emden in the first round of regionals. If they win their season will continue in Rushville. Come support the boys basketball team in their very anticipated post season run.
