There are only 2 undefeated teams left in men’s and women’s college basketball. Those 2 teams are the Miami Ohio men’s basketball team (31-0) and the UConn women’s basketball team(34-0). It is very rare to have 2 undefeated teams. The last time a men’s team had an undefeated team in the regular season was the 2020-21 gonzaga bulldogs who went 26-0.
Miami Ohio is led by Peter Suder. Suder averages 14.8 points per game. He was the MAC player of the year. This is their first undefeated season ever and are a lock to make the NCAA March Madness Tournament. People still think this is a fluke because of their strength of schedule and the lack of powerhouse teams they play. They are ranked number 20 in the AP poll despite not losing a game all year.
The UConn women’s team has been a dominant force for years as they are led by Geno Auriemma. They are the defending champions as they beat another dominant force South Carolina in the National Championship. A freshman Sarah Strong is leading the team in scoring averaging 18.5 points per game. If they go back to back they will have an undefeated season and be back-to-back national champions. It will be interesting to see how far these teams could go before losing a game.
