This year’s Grammy’s was hosted at the Cryptogram Arena in Los Angeles, California on February 1st, 2026. There were many ups and downs of the event, but the overall take away was you can do hard things even during hard times.
The host of the Grammy’s this year, once again, was Trevor Noah. This was his sixth time hosting and although there were some controversial things that went on between him and others, he still made sure everyone had an amazing time. Trevor is very well known for finding the light in things and making jokes out of more serious situations and that was definitely shown at this year’s awards.
Next we must talk about Bad Bunny‘s (Benito Antonio Matinez Ocasio) amazing win on Album of the Year. He is officially the first music artist to win this award for an album sung only in Spanish. This is a huge accomplishment and meant a lot to many people. This also makes fans even more excited for his back to back wins seeing that he performed in the Superbowl halftime on February 8th, 2026! In Benito’s speech he states “We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens, we are humans, and we are Americans,” leaving it up for interpretation to everyone listening.
Next up we got to see Kendrick Lamar (who was nominated for NINE Grammy’s!) and SZA win Record of the Year for their song “Luther”, featured on Kendricks album GNX made back in 2024. This song has been very important to both singers and shows the theme of wanting to protect your partner from the harshness of this world. This was then followed up by a speech pointing out that in tragedy people run to music and find peace in songs. Lamar says, “This is what music is about,… We’re gonna make sure that this song represents love” chased by SZA saying “I know that right now is a scary time, I know the algorithms tell us that it’s so scary, and all is lost… We can go on. We need each other, we need to trust each other and trust ourselves, trust your heart.” This was such a big point and important time for SZA and Lamar to bring this up, but they definitely went about it in the best way.
Lastly, let’s talk about some honorable mentions! Billie Eilish won Song of the Year for her viral song Wildflower that was released back in 2024. There was some confusion on this as well, while it was technically released in 2024, it was released as a single in the eligibility period giving her the opportunity to get this award. Along with Olivia Dean who was awarded Best New Artist. She performed her viral song “Man I Need” and gave a speech mentioning her family and everyone who helped her along the way. Both artists mentioned ICE addressing some popular concerns and voicing their stance, taking their time at the mic to raise awareness for things close to home (Dean is the granddaughter of immigrants herself, even if she is from the UK).
Many other artists were featured and nominated for many awards, showing a variety of talent within the building.
