As the Spring season approaches, more scholarship opportunities are available for 2026 seniors. This year’s Dee-Mack seniors were just sent a list of opportunities to apply for many local scholarships until March 6, 2026. All applications must be turned in by this date, and each applicant must submit two copies of their application and essay to the counseling office. Here are some of the scholarships that have recently opened:
Clyde Aeschliman Memorial Scholarship from the Deer Creek American Legion
One $1,000 scholarship will be given to a senior based on his/her desire to continue education, ability to succeed, and best answer to the question “What is your philosophy concerning the responsibilities of youth to the future of America?”. The decision will be finalized by the Committee of Education and Scholarship Committee.
Deer Creek-Mackinaw Education Foundation Scholarship from the DCMEF
Two $1,000 scholarships, one male and one female, who are enrolled as freshman in an accredited two year or four year college/university.
Deer Creek Sons of the American Legion Scholarship from the Deer Creek American Legion
Two $500 scholarships will be given at graduation for the Deer Creek Sons of the American Legion.
Deer Creek Legion Auxiliary #1276 Scholarship
Two $500 scholarships given to a senior female that is a descendant of a veteran.
Gladys Garst Memorial Scholarship from the Deer Creek-Mackinaw Education Association
One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded on the basis of scholarship, extracurricular activities, civic and church activities, and educational goals.
Hammer Memorial Scholarship
One $500 scholarship will be awarded on the basis of need, scholarship, citizenship, and leadership.
High School Teacher’s Scholarship
One $500 scholarship will be awarded on the basis of school leadership, academic achievement, need and an essay answer “What have you done to contribute to the positive climate and culture of Dee-Mack High School?” and “What are your post high school goals?”
Hunkler-Stagen Teaching Scholarship
One $3,000 scholarship will be awarded to a senior pursuing a degree in the teaching field.
Mack-Ca-Fest Scholarship
One $1,500 scholarship will be awarded to a senior with the best 500-800 word essay about the importance of leadership and civic engagement in Mackinaw. Reflecting specifically on how the youth of the community can contribute in a positive way.
Mackinaw American Legion Scholarship
One $500 will be awarded on the basis of having a 2.0 GPA or higher and has demonstrated exceptional hard work, exhibited a desire to continue his/her education, and has exhibited financial need.
Morton Masonic Lodge Scholarship (for Dee-Mack Students)
One $500 is awarded to a senior that is in the top 15 of the class with high moral value.
Mackinaw Police Department Scholarship
One, up to $1,000 scholarship awarded to a senior who meets the qualifications outlined in the form: Deer Creek-Mackinaw High School graduating senior, possess a minimum of 3.0 GPA, having maintained a clean driving record, never having been convicted as a juvenile or adult for any misdemeanor or felony, participation in at least one school sponsored extracurricular activity each year, freshman through senior year, planning on attending a college or university beginning in fall semester following graduation.
Mark A. Wiegand Memorial Agricultural Scholarship
One $500 scholarship awarded to a senior pursuing a degree in Ag Engineering, Ag Business, Crop Science, Ag Career Training, Ag Technical Training, Ag Mechanics, Animal Science, or Horticulture.
National Honor Society Scholarship
One $500 scholarship awarded to the senior in the National Honor Society who can best answer the essay questions on the application describing their financial need, character, leadership, service, and plans after graduation.
The Good to be a Chief Scholarship
Two $250 scholarships awarded to a boy and a girl in the senior class who can answer with the best essay answering the following questions: “How did you exhibit positivity and mental toughness while at Deer-Creek Mackinaw High School?”, “Why do you believe that it is Good to be a Chief?”, and “How do you plan to continue to be a Chief in your next step in life?”
Summer Stahl Scholarship
One $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to the successful applicant beginning in the Spring of 2024 and will be for the benefit of students who have graduated from Deer Creek-Mackinaw High School. This scholarship will be awarded in honor of Dee-Mack graduate, Summer E. Stahl.
The Little Learning Chiefs Academy Scholarship
One $1,000 scholarship awarded to a graduating senior who is pursuing higher education in the field of Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Education, Education. Special Education, Social Work, Counseling, Family and Consumer Sciences or another field that will involve working with children and/or families (such as studying to become a pediatrician, nurse, etc.).
Tazewell County Republican Scholarship
Two $1,000 scholarships to two Tazewell County high school seniors, a male and a female, for use in post high school education at an accredited educational institution.
