The Heisman award is one of the most prestigious awards you can get in college football, given to the best player in college football. This year for the Heisman race there are 3 Quarterbacks and 1 running back. The candidates are Quarterback Diego Pavia from Vanderbilt, Quarterback Fernando Mendoza from Indiana, Quarterback Julian Sayin from Ohio State and the one running back in this year’s race out of Notre Dame Jeremiah Love.
The Top 2 favorites were Diego Pavia and Fernando Mendoza. Pavia threw for 3,192 yards and 27 touchdowns but also ran for 800 leading the commodores to a 10 win season in one of the toughest conferences the SEC. Mendoza threw 2,980 yards and 33 touchdowns. Leading the hoosiers to an undefeated season and defeating defending champs Ohio State to take the number one spot in the country. Both players have strong cases for winning the heisman but only one can.
The Heisman was announced Saturday December 13th. It was highly anticipated and the winner of the 2025 college football heisman award was Fernando Mendoza out of Indiana. He went 13-0 and had a staple win in the Big Ten Championship game against Ohio State which ultimately won him the award. This was Indiana’s first undefeated season in their school history. Mendoza is looking to lead his team to the national championship and be a top 5 pick in the NFL draft.
