In mid day on October 19th about 4 people went into the Louver disguised as construction workers. They stole about 104 million dollars worth of jewelry including a diamond and emerald necklace. Eugene’s crown was found damaged but is salvageable and jewelry tied to the 19th century queens Marie- Ameile and Hortense has still not been found yet. Security shows 4 men forcing their way into a window into 2 display cases and getting away on 2 scooters in broad daylight. As of now there is no insider help but there is still more information to come out.
The suspects booked a truck mounted lift for a moving job but they ambushed the driver and stole it. They used the basket lift to get them into the Apollo gallery and at 9:30 am. At 9:34 am they were using power tools to break in and at 9:38 am they were gone with the jewelry worth millions. In just 4 minutes they are able to steal priceless jewels and get away in the middle of the day without any security trying to stop them. All 4 robbers are in their 30s and have been placed in custody
People are calling this the heist of the century because of what they stole and how easy it was to steal the jewels. They have only recovered one thing and that is Eguines crown, but it is broken because the robbers dropped it while taking it out of the case. They have yet to find anything else but are still currently looking for it. The Louver is currently closed right now due to the heist.
