Dee-Mack versus Tri-Valley kicks off at Jim McDonald field on September 19th at 7PM. The Vikings are making the trip to Dee-Mack after playing at their home field last year, and both teams took losses last week and are going into the game 2-1.
The Vikings and the Chiefs have a strong history, but Tri-Valley has beat Dee-Mack 11 years straight since 2014. Although Dee-Mack has not won against them in a while, they have had close games. In 2018, Dee-Mack and Tri-Valley faced off at Jim McDonald field and kept the score low, Tri-Valley coming out on top with a 13-6 win. In 2016, Dee-Mack and Tri-Valley were both undefeated and had a high scoring battle of 35-42, but Tri-Valley got it done. Last year, a young Dee-Mack team went to Tri-Valley and dropped a hefty loss but remain hopeful in the 2025 season.
Tri-Valley is a very interesting team this year, losing eight seniors from last season, including star receiver Cade Danko. They have some new players on both sides of the field stepping up to fill big roles. This season, they have switched to a Wing-T Offense which is run-heavy. The Vikings are 2-1 so far, starting off strong beating Fieldcrest 52-12 and beating LeRoy 21-7 . In their last matchup, they faced off with a very good 1A team in Tuscola and lost in a heartbreaker: 28-27. This will be Tri-Valley’s second arrival at Dee-Mack in the past 5 years, and they are looking to bounce back after their loss last week.
The Chiefs have 7 senior starters, with 2 key players returning after missing last week’s game. Dee-Mack is led by star running back Shaun Denniston, who has 7 touchdowns on the season and 356 rushing yards. The Chiefs had back-to-back wins at Eureka and Tremont in Weeks 1 and 2, but recently took a heartbreaking loss to EPG at home. This is the Chiefs homecoming game and the highest staked game on their schedule this year. The stands will be packed.
“We want to set the tone and come out hot,” says senior, Tkye Albritton.
At the homecoming pep assembly, Coach Myers reminded the crowd that home team advantage is everything. And home team advantage, he said, “is you guys”, referring to a loud and resilient student section.
If the Chiefs pull this win off, it will be more than just one game. It will be a history-maker, becoming the first Dee-Mack team in a decade to beat Tri-Valley.
Kick off is at 7pm. Show up to cheer on the Chiefs!
