It’s always so exciting to be a senior and to be almost done with high school so you can create the future you want to have. Enjoying senior year while you can will only help create memories, and it can help pass the time you have left a little faster.
Things To Do/Look Forward to as Second Semester Seniors:
There are a lot of different things a senior can do to really enjoy their last semester of high school such as:
- Senior Year Prom:
-
-
- Prom is something that is only for Juniors and Seniors but it is the only dance that is not at the school. A venue is actually rented and decorated for this dance. This is an opportunity for one to get dressed up with friends and dance and really enjoy themselves one last time. It will also be their last chance to experience a high school dance.
-
- Senior Skip Day:
-
-
- Senior Skip Day is for seniors to skip just because. They still have to call in for a reason because it is actually not an excused absence. Seniors on this day can come to school but can also use it as an opportunity to go have a fun day or a stay in bed and chill day. There is no national Senior Skip day. It is based on the school but is usually in March/April.
-
- Senior Send-Off:
-
-
- This is usually on the day before seniors’ last day, and in past years, seniors stay at the school all night. At this time, fun games and challenges are planned. The senior prank is usually also set up during this night. Former chaperone, Ms. Putney, says that the highlight of senior send-off is watching the seniors all engage, participate, and have fun together during the ‘team’ events and scavenger hunt. She especially loves seeing the students that don’t necessarily always participate really get into team competitions and enjoy themselves.
-
- Senior Prank:
-
-
- Senior prank gives the graduating seniors a chance to pull a prank on the staff and their peers. In past years, they have turned the front hallway into a place to hang out, had balloons blocking off hallways, cars parked in parking lots that makes it difficult for others to park, and cups full of water placed in some teachers’ rooms with desks being moved and tipped over.
-
- Go to Other School Events:
-
-
- Going to school events such as Basketball games, Track Meets, Softball and Baseball games can help you really take in the last of the lasts. Such as the last home game, senior night, or being in a student section cheering on your friends and team. It doesn’t stop there, participating in school dress ups days and prep rally games or field day games really helps build the memories that will last you and your friends a lifetime.
-
- Step out of your comfort zone:
-
- Stepping out of your comfort zone can supply you with growth and potential to be able to speak to others that aren’t your friends when you get out into the real world. To really tie the bow on senior year, do something that is fun and within school rules that you may look back on and think it was silly to, do but you had fun doing it. For example, wear an outfit with your best friend that may be out of your comfort zone. Another idea is to make a TikTok in class when the teacher gives free-time, or during pe.
Graduating is something we all look forward to but some look back and wish that they participated more and were more involved. Don’t let that be you!
