FASFA or Free Application for Federal Student Aid is a form to determine how qualified an individual is to receive student aid based on their household income. The application process isn’t as scary as it seems though. Here are the necessary steps students and parents need to submit to secure the highest amount of federal aid as possible:

Applicants must first collect all necessary documentation, such as tax returns and bank statements.

Then open https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch and create a free account. All details must be complete and submitted accurately to continue the process at any step.

After entering their information, the student must enter any schools they plan on attending for the next year. You can do this by searching the school’s city or name.

Finally, you must complete a series of income-based questions for you and your parent(s) (aka contributors).

One of the most essential steps to this process is to APPLY EARLY. Federal aid is given out on a first come first serve basis and completing all of the necessary measures as close to October 1st as possible will get you more money.

Don’t forget to submit a review for your Student Aid Report (SAR) after completion.

Lastly, check for any updates through your profile or email for an estimated SAI!
