As the fall sports come to an end, and the air starts to get colder, we get to experience the excitement of the winter sports coming back around! This season we are going to be diving into the girls and boys basketball teams, along with the spirit team cheering them along from the sidelines, and don’t forget to keep an eye out for our girls and boys wrestling teams as well. As you could assume, all teams are hoping to learn and grow together, but let’s take a deeper look into what they’re really wanting to achieve this 25-26 season!
Girls Basketball
The Girls Basketball team this year is dropping to 1A which is expected to be beneficial for this upcoming season. Senior team member, Dalia Dejesus, tells us that the team is looking good, pointing out that the girls seem very athletic and ready for whatever comes their way. She also exclaims that she’s looking forward to playing in their brand new jerseys. Kate Schmidgall, a junior on the team, said her goal is to win the conference again, just as they have in the past two years. Kate also mentions some excitement to play in the new Thanksgiving and Christmas tournaments. Make sure to show up and support our girls for another amazing season!

Spirit Team
Dee Mack’s Spirit team is at every home and away boys basketball game. They occasionally cheer for the girls basketball games as well. This means they spend a lot of time supporting the school and each other. When Junior, Lydia Collins, was asked what her goal for the team is this season, she said “My overall goal for the team this season is to be amazing entertainers, (show facials, cool tricks, etc) and showcase the many talents and personalities of our team. I also can’t wait to see our growth in teamwork as well as friendships between our teammates!”

Boys Basketball
The boys basketball team ended on a high note last year and now has a lot of returning players. This season also brought our boys a new coach, Mr. Chad Cluver! Cluver has taken teams to state many times in the past, and even taken a team to win a state championship in 2007! Coach Cluver tells us that this season he is eager to build a family atmosphere where all of the guys play for one another and for everyone to be excited to see the possibilities within themselves. When returning senior player Tkye Albritton was asked if he’s excited for this season, he said he is wanting to win conference and make it to sectionals; Tyke also mentioned how excited he is for the long bus rides with the team and the pregame runs. The boys have been working hard since the summer, so make sure to cheer them on starting November 24th to kick off the Thanksgiving Tournament!

Boys and Girls Wrestling
The wrestling team has put in the work and improved their performances every year. This year, we’re excited to see what they can do, and to see all the time and effort they put in pay off. When we asked returning senior, Bella Brooks, what she was most excited for this season she said “I’m most excited to see how everyone does and to make all the memories with the girls on the team.” Lastly, senior Caleb Greer notes that his goal for this boys season was, he said he is looking forward to the post season, and wants the team to get as far as possible. Make sure to come out and see how well our Dee-Mack wrestling team does!
