Here are some of Dee-Mack’s favorite books, all available through Mr. McCoy in the library!
Ethan Gordon:
When interviewing Ethan, he proposed The Lord of the Rings series as his favorite book series. The series is said to be the greatest fantasy of our time, written by J.R.R. Tolkien. It was published between 1954 and 1955 but it became popular during the 20th century. “My favorite book would probably have to be the Lord of the Rings. I’ve been reading it since I was younger because of it’s fantasy and story elements but as I’ve gotten older with the movies and all that- my favorite parts of it is more about the character writing than anything else and how they actually are in the world. As far as like fantasy goes, it doesn’t step out of the normal too much. When you look at it, it has wizards, goblins and hobbits, dwarves and elves but what it really does differently is how it sets up itself, it’s truly a heroic tale and it’s really good”.
First line: “When Mr. Bilbo Baggins of Bag End announced that he would shortly be celebrating his eleventy-first birthday with a party of special magnificence, there was much talk and excitement in Hobbiton.”
Libby Medlin:
Libby, who is a senior, mentioned her favorite book to be Turtles All the Way Down by John Green. This coming of age book was published in 2019 and took John Green to then become a award-winning, #1 bestselling. “Turtles all the way down Because it speaks on teen mental health”.
First line: “At the time I first realized I might be fictional, my weekdays were spent at a publicly funded institution on the north side of Indianapolis called White River High School.”
Mrs. Uner: When asked what her favorite book is, Mrs. Uner responded with The Night Road by Kristin Hannah. It was published in 2011 but is still a popular romance and drama. “I think it’s a good story because it shows how someone made a bad decision and it affected their life but they were able to come back from it and it had a happy ending”.
First line: “If anyone sees her here, just standing on this lonely roadside in a gathering mist, it will all come up again.”
