Floral arrangements are incredibly popular as a romantic gesture. From corsages and boutonnieres to ‘just because’ bouquets, Norah’s Florals does it all. Norah Scroggs is a senior here at Dee-Mack who uses her creative skills to build her small business. While managing her business, she’s gotten a head start on pursuing a career as a nurse in pediatric oncology. Norah has been taking a CNA class at ICC every morning for the first semester. Norah is an incredibly productive individual, spending her free time going church, going on walks, going to the gym, and hanging with friends. Norah’s Florals includes services such as making handmade bouquets from handpicked flowers. Norah started making bouquets for fun two years ago, but decided to start selling in May of this year!
Starting up and running a business is a process that requires consistent attention to detail and motivation. Norah is motivated everyday by her passion for her product and by her mom. Norah’s mom acts as a ‘teacher’ to Norah, giving constructive criticism on how Norah can make her product better. Her mom has experience working with florals, so the pair is able to put their creative minds together to create the most beautiful bouquets. She is also able to lean on her mom for advice on how to run her business. Tips and tricks from Norah’s mom makes her small business bloom. Norah truly enjoys making bouquets, which is a large reason why she started this business to spread her creativity and give others a chance to have what she loves. Florals can get pricey and many communities have limited options to buy quality products. In her business, Norah is able to both relieve stress and make an income for herself! She provides services locally to customers in Mackinaw and Deer Creek, as the closest floral source to these communities are 20 minutes away.
Norah’s Florals was started in May and has since had incredible success. Norah happily expresses, “Pretty much every week, my kitchen is filled with fresh flowers from orders.” She’s documented that in the last few weekends, she has done a total of about 8 homecoming bouquets and boutonnieres, a bridal bouquet, multiple bridesmaid bouquets, and a centerpiece with the extra flowers. Norah enjoys spreading joy through her personalized orders for each and every customer. Norah will have a busy next few weeks, making more homecoming bouquets, wedding flowers, and a few miscellaneous orders throughout. Although Norah’s business has already expanded a fair amount, she has good intentions for it to grow over the next few years. Utilizing social media to post what she’s done and take new orders, Norah is able to showcase her abilities. Check out her Instagram page, @norahsflorals!
