Last week, the Dee-Mack HS students were challenged to raise money for Camp Hope! Camp Hope is a week-long, fully free, medically safe camp for the kids of St.Jude and they’re siblings. This camp provides kids with cancer and blood disorders with a week of fun, friendship, and connection with people who relate to their experiences. They get to share these experiences with their siblings and spend a week enjoying life beyond their diagnosis. This camp is very important to many individuals in the Dee-Mack community, both campers and staff alike. This week is absolutely magical and is one that all involved look forward to year round.
Throughout the week, dress up days were organized to correspond with each of the recognized holidays. The holidays that were recognized were Christmas, Halloween, Fourth of July, and Valentines Day! Points were awarded to students in the corresponding class if they dressed in the theme of the day. Points were also awarded if you won the games played on Friday allowing the sophomores to pull ahead winning the entire thing. The seniors were able to win the coin wars with the help of Officer Kitts putting $100 dollars in the junior jar to send them into the negative numbers.
The seniors chose Mr. Day as the man to shave his beard and head since they won the coin wars! Mr. Finney and Mr. Mac also volunteered to shave their heads and beards in support of Camp Hope. They were proud of how each class stepped up to the challenge and raised money for the kids of Camp Hope. In total, we raised $11,070.19. The girls basketball team raised $3320.75 and the students and staff of Dee-Mack raised $7849.49! We are proud to be a part of the Dee-Mack HS as we raised money for something bigger than all of us. Thank you Dee-Mack students and staff for your donations!
