Freshman Cody Denniston
Starting high school can be a big adjustment, but for Cody Denniston, the transition has been smoother than expected. “The adjustment from middle school to high school was not that hard because it’s about the same, and my brother has helped me,” he stated. One of his favorite parts of freshman year so far has been the freedom, especially when it comes to Athletic P.E. “It’s more fun than normal P.E.,” he noted. Outside of class, he stays busy with football, basketball, and video games, making sure sports are a big part of his high school experience.
Even though academics have their challenges, he’s found a bright spot in his schedule. “My favorite class is study hall because I have Mrs. Fogle, and it is so fun,” he commented. On the other hand, math has been tough. “I’m not that good at math,” he admitted. Joining football has given him the chance to connect with new people. “Yes, I have made new friends from playing football,” he said. Lunch, though, doesn’t feel all that different from middle school. “It’s the same because you just sit there and eat.”
Looking ahead, Cody hopes to make the most of his next four years of high school. “My goal for high school is making the best of it and doing good on the football team,” he noted. He also shared that if he could give advice to incoming freshmen, it would be, “It’s a lot better than middle school.” He looks up to his senior brother Shaun the most, calling him both smart and “a very good football player.” When it comes to school lunch, there’s one favorite that he thinks stands out above the rest, “If I could only eat one school food, it would be the corn dog because it is good.” Cody Denniston has had a very good transition from middle school to high school and looks to continue to improve on the field and in the classroom!
