Cases of Hand Foot and Mouth have been rapidly spreading throughout our district. An email was sent out to all of our parents in the district about ways to prevent it. Hand foot and mouth virus is highly contagious. Check your email and read the rest of this article for ways you can prevent getting this highly contagious virus. Superintendent Maloy said in his email, “HFMD is a common viral illness that primarily affects children and is characterized by fever, sore throat, and a rash or blisters on the hands, feet, and mouth. While typically mild, it is highly contagious and spreads through direct contact, respiratory droplets, and contaminated surfaces.”
Ways to prevent Hand Foot and Mouth Disease:
Avoid close contact with anyone infected
Clean and disinfect frequently touched items (desks, chairs, pencils, ect.)
Avoid touching your face
Make sure everyone around you is washing their hands
If you are infected with this virus, here’s what to do:
To ease infection, use over the counter medicine like Tylenol, Ibuprofen, and Advil
Throat sprays can help with Blisters in mouth
Anti Bacterial Cream on your hands and feet with help clear up the blisters faster
Make sure to wash your hands and stay safe!!
