It is our honor to help introduce the new holder of the superintendent mantle, Mr. Maloy! During discussion of his new position, he made sure to touch on a variety of essential pillars that make up the foundation of his administration career at Dee-Mack, as well as telling us a little bit about himself personally. Explaining these details, Mr. Maloy touched on some valuable points, such as emphasis on words like “trust,” “accountability,” and “respect,” in the context of how we interact with one another. He presented his idea of an administration system that the students can trust moving into the coming years– an administration and student body that can hold each other accountable while maintaining respect for each other. This is the core of what Mr. Maloy wishes to prioritize as superintendent.
Mr. Maloy is well versed with supporting school spirit, having over 20 years of experience with education. He has done a multitude of things in this field including being a coach for various sports, a student council sponsor, and even a bus driver. While looking to secure a further degree in History he was encouraged to look into administration. The opportunity arose, and so he began his admin career in Northwest Illinois. Where he worked for multiple years before moving here to Dee-Mack.
The jolly superintendent made a note to recognize the hospitality he’s received from the Dee-Mack community already, stating that, “It’s a wonderful thing that people here will often greet and welcome you when they see you. That just doesn’t happen in some places.” In addition, Mr. Maloy mentioned how happy he was to see his son integrate so seamlessly with his new peers. Quite to our pride, many new teachers and staff members alike have also made a point about the culture and hospitality of Dee-Mack students. Mr. Maloy hopes to uphold this trend, and continue to improve Dee-Mack for the better.
Mr. Maloy later discussed how he personally dealt with stress. Understanding that school can be a stressful place, both for staff and students, Mr. Maloy shared how he deals with the anxiety of school, especially with the new position and all of the changes that have accompanied it this year. He pointed out his methods of compartmentalization involving the various roles in his life, contrasting his official duties as superintendent with the everyday honor of being a loving father, husband, and community member. He explained that whenever life becomes difficult or taxing, he can make time to spend with his family, unwind, reset, and return with a mindset ready to tackle the tasks at hand. No matter which role we see the man in, something we know for certain is that Dee-Mack proudly welcomes Mr. Maloy to our community, so be sure to give him a wave when you see him around school!
