Jaime Delgado is one of our 2025-2026 high school foreign exchange students. He is from Madrid, Spain which is the capital of his country. Spain is a very happy country and is known for its famous European art and the Royal Palace of Madrid. Jaime is fluent in Spanish, English and can speak a little bit of French.
When interviewed, he mentioned that he chose to become a foreign exchange student because,” all my siblings came here to the united states and I wanted to do it too. They all told me it was a good experience and they learned a lot of things to help shape them and become a better person.” So far schooling has been easier here for him but he enjoys how they teach because you have more options of what you want to learn. The schooling in Spain is used to take the next step to get a job, unlike America where we have a variety of things to learn based on interest.
He thinks living here has been relatively easy but it’s an adjustment with having to understand and speak English so much. His favorite part of the year so far has been starting the school year and he is excited to learn the american culture, learn the language and have fun doing it. Jaime has tried out football and wants to try out baseball during the spring, but currently he enjoys going to all the sports games he can!
A fun fact is, his favorite food from America so far is cheeseburgers. Something unexpected he has learned about America is the legal ages of things. He finds it interesting that you can drive at sixteen but other things at twenty-one.
We were so excited to learn more about our foreign exchange student, Jaime!
