As some may recognize her from subbing through our district she is now a part of The Tribe as a general PE and Health teacher at the high school. Ava Finch and I sat down with her and asked her some questions to understand more about her!
Some may not know but she and her twin sister grew up in Cradfordsville, IN. She moved to Mackinaw later in her freshman year and went there all of her sophomore year to then move after that. She would like to bring some things that she has been involved in from other communities to Mackinaw like a community garden. She is also a master gardener, she keeps bees for honey. She is a life long learner and reader and her favorite book is Lonesome Dove. She makes homemade organic products like soaps, and creams for herself. Some fun facts about her are that she is really good at cooking, and wants to try bringing in treats for her classes sometime this year.
She’s been a part of the community for years and her kids have gone to Dee-Mack. She states “living in a small community starts to feel like you gained a family because you get to know the kids and parents”. This goes along with how she believes this district is always looking out for the students and doing what’s best for them.
She was asked what her goals for this year was and what she was excited for this year, she replied with “I want to help every student learn to love fitness and health in ways it interests them”. She wants to provide every option she can to meet that goal and to help students also find the ways that work for them. She’s excited to challenge herself this year because she knows the job and wants to push herself to be excellent and connect with students because she believes that’s where it all starts.
We are so thrilled to have her as our PE and Health teacher! If you see her make sure to stop and say a warm welcome hello!
