Elise Lefevre is a 2024- 2025 foreign exchange student in our high school. She is from a beautiful commune in Caen, France. She has made it a point to let others know that it is a beautiful country and everyone should take a trip to france. Elise is Trilingual and can speak Italian, English and French but feels more confident and comfortable speaking English.
Going on an exchange year is a very special and exciting experience and we wanted to get a closer look on what Elise’s experience has been like: When interviewed, she mentioned that she chose to become a foreign exchange student because, “ Five years ago I went to the USA with my family, I just really wanted to go back again. I was feeling so good in the USA.” The difference in school in America versus France is the pressure and France’s long schedule. On a normal school day in France, the students will start school at 8 am and finish at 6 pm which is 3 hours longer than Dee-Mack’s school day.
Her favorite part of the year this far has been school and her sports practices. Elise is involved in cheerleading, volleyball and is a participant in any school events she can attend. With that she has been pretty content with her family here and not as homesick as she thought she would be when moving here. She is most looking forward to becoming more fluent in English and continuing to be a part of her family in the U.S.
Elise’s favorite food in America so far that she has tried are cheese quesadillas. But, the most surprising thing in the US is that Americans eat ice and have ice in drinks. Ice isn’t a big commodity in France and is rarely available in drinks.
We were so excited to learn more about our foreign exchange student, Elise! Check in later this year to learn more about our other foreign exchange students: Shiko Magdy and Martina Mele.
